I use them with raspberry canes, but they can be used with whatever trimmings you have….willow, hazel, privet, even perennial stems such as goldenrod, hydrangea or joe pye weed! I add my raspberry canes every fall, pushing down the previous year’s hurdle. The steel has a rust patina and is 5/16'“ thick to be strong enough to hold the hurdle material and last for years. I have some I placed around my fig tree in 2014 still holding up hurdle! They come in packs of 10 and 2 sizes..12” and 24”.
